The Evolution of an Office

Aight er'body.  Let's talk office stuff.  When we moved in, the office was painted an off-white color and no matter what I did with the furniture, it just didn't look right.

To start, I decided to paint.  I let Eric choose between a bright green or a bright blue.  We choose to do a brighter color because a. I LOVE COLOR ITS PRETTTTTTTY and b. the office is where we tend to do our artwork, so we wanted a colorful and inspiring room.  Eric chose the green, and as an added bonus, we now had our own green screen if we ever needed one.  Score!

Disclaimer: the green shown in the photos are a lot brighter than they are in person.

So, after discovering Pinterest, I fell in love with the idea of a gigantic wall-length desk.  What made it more appealing is the fact that my husband needs a TON of space to hold is computer gadgetry and do-dadery.

To start, we went to the local lumberyard and got our boards cut to the lengths we needed.  I fit them in just to make sure... it was real fun walking through the house with an 11 foot board.  I did not break anything.  Good job me!

In our garage, I began sanding and staining the boards.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh shiny.

And ta-da!  The boards just sit on the supports we added and the metal filing cabinet in the middle.  We want to eventually get more filing cabinets to put at the ends for extra storage.

Other side of the office.  We wanted a comfortable area to lounge in and an extra desk to do artwork on away from the computers.

As the year went on, I finally was able to purchase another peek-a-boo shelf from CB2.

Next on the to do list:  get rid of the cords! Booo cords.
